One Year Ago We Started Something New. Something Big.
On July 20, 2014, former LAIKA/house President Lourri Hammack, Creative Director Kirk Kelley and Managing Director of Strategic Operations Al Cubillas launched HouseSpecial from a strong legacy of animation born under the Will Vinton Studio and LAIKA banners.
What happened next was a whirlwind of re-branding, sleep deprivation, gratitude, tequila and excitement. Six months later, our business was (not surprisingly) booming and we decided to relocate to a new, open studio in Northeast Portland. Now, a year later, we are looking back at some big success – including creating multiple spots with Supercell and Barton F. Graf 9000 for the Boom Beach® CG-animated campaign and a stop-motion short for Häagen-Dazs® with Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
During this last year, we also gained notoriety this year with the award-winning CG short film A Tale of Momentum & Inertia, which found a second life as an advertising campaign for Indeed.com.
Looking toward 2016, we look forward the same success and are full of gratitude for everyone - artists to clients - who believed in and collaborated with us.
