Freelance Producer
General Summary
We are seeking an experienced and resourceful Freelance Producer to oversee commercial projects from award through final delivery. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of production: scheduling, budgeting, crewing, and communication, ensuring the creative vision is realized on time and within budget.
The Freelance Producer works closely with internal creative leads, production teams, clients, and vendors. This position requires strong communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to lead fast-paced productions across various media, including animation, live action, and VFX.
While the studio is based in Portland, this position may be conducted remotely, with flexible collaboration tailored to the scope and format of each project.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, internal teams, and vendors throughout the production process.
Collaborate with the creative team to understand project goals, requirements, and deliverables.
Develop and maintain production timelines, delivery schedules, and budget targets.
Works closely with EP to maintain integrity of budget, schedule and client relations.
Works closely with directors to assure proper staffing of jobs and performance of staff during production to assure creative goals are met.
Collaborates with other Producers to load balance teams across productions as necessary.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
Create, manage, and reconcile production budgets, ensuring accuracy and transparency throughout the life of the project.
Negotiate vendor quotes and crew rates while aligning with scope and budget parameters.
Track expenses and manage cost reporting (actuals/forecasting) and overage approvals, working closely with studio accounting.
Communication & Workflow
Drive clear and consistent communication between creative teams, production, and client stakeholders.
Schedule and lead internal and client meetings, including kick-offs, reviews, and delivery milestones.
Oversee project documentation, ensuring assets, approvals, and notes are organized and accessible.
Monitor progress against key deadlines and escalate risks to studio leadership as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
5+ years experience as a Producer in commercial production, ideally including animation, VFX, or hybrid content.
Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and creative communication from pre-production to final delivery.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with experience working directly with clients.
