Q&A with Tyler

We found Tyler in our own backyard fresh from graduating Portland State University with a degree in Film Production. He knows his way around a camera and is developing a sharp eye for engaging imagery.

What inspires you?
What inspires me to work right now is just the knowledge that I won't ever be this young again. I won't ever be this healthy again. I want to work as hard as I can and create the best things that I can.

Why did you pick a career in animation?
Stop motion was a natural step in my progression from still photography to video. When I was in middle school, I wanted to make films using digital cameras because I could edit them on a computer, as opposed to editing in camera. My dad had a small digital camera that I used. It only took still images, so I worked with what I had.

Favorite treat?
I love oranges. I lived right next to an orange orchard for 10 years. Every time I have an orange it reminds me of when I was young, riding my bike with my friends through the orchard.

What is your most prized possession?
My most prized possession would probably be my car. I have a 1998 Ford Explorer. I love it because it gets me out to amazing locations in Oregon and to all of my different jobs.

When will you know that you're successful?
When I can retire, that's when I know I was successful in my working career.

When you were 6, what did you think you’d would be when you grew up?
Gosh, when I was 6? I probably thought I'd be a NASCAR driver or something. I was, and still am, obsessed with cars and racing. Jeff Gordon was my hero.

How do you spend your free time?
When I have free time I am usually spending it with my girlfriend. If she is busy, then I probably will be with my family or playing video games with my friends.

Crumbled - a short film by Tyler

Beauty is fleeting, especially when the source is gigantic frozen glacier cave. Watch as Kat and I hike ten miles to see these beautiful creations. The glacier caves are located on Mount Hood in Oregon. This video was taken in April of 2015. Thank you so much for watching and sharing this video with friends.
